13.01.2026

Essen-born percussionist Alexei Gerassimez is as versatile a musician as his instruments. He is not only a phenomenal virtuoso, but also a creative and intelligent musician with incredible energy and a wealth of colour. His repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary and jazz to minimalism, whilst also performing his own works. He is not only a phenomenal virtuoso, but also a creative and intelligent musician, with an incredible energy and great richness of colour. He creates solo programmes, performs with his own percussion group and is an enthusiastic chamber musician.

His own compositions are characterized by the exploration of rhythmic and acoustic possibilities, as well as by the creation of individual sounds and the joy of crossing borders. Accordingly, Gerassimez integrates not only the usual percussion and melody instruments but also objects from different contexts such as bottles, brake discs, barrels or ship propellers. His first album, Alexej Gerassimez: Percussion, was published by GENUIN and was received enthusiastically by the press
