"March Music Days" is an event that gives special energy to both national and European musical life. Ruse welcomes over 600 artists and participants from 4 continents, and this festival is a celebration of youth, talent, the magnificence of classical music, the organic connection between generations, the energy that makes the world better and brighter,” said Mayor Pencho Milkov in his welcoming speech. He also wished the participants inspiration and success, and the audience – unforgettable experiences.
The official opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Georgi Sultanov, Deputy Mayors of Ruse Municipality Zlatomira Stefanova and Dimitar Nedev, Deputy Regional Governor Georgi Georgiev, representatives of the diplomatic embassies of Lithuania and Nigeria in Bucharest, municipal councilors and members of parliament. Deputy Minister Sultanov greeted the organizers, participants and attendees, emphasizing that for 65 years this festival has been a source of pride for Ruse and Bulgaria. “I am extremely excited and I want to congratulate you and thank you, "that you are making this celebration of music a reality," said Sultanov. Greetings were received from the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova.
The first evening of the musical program captivated the attendees with a concert by Johannes Brahms for orchestra, violin and cello. The brilliant Romanian cellist Andrei Ionica and the distinguished violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky performed on stage. The work is the last symphonic work of the great composer. The performance of the Ruse State Opera Orchestra was followed by the Ninth Symphony by Antonín Dvořák, also known as the New World Symphony.
Before the start of the music forum, the exhibition of the artist Ivan Ivanov - Ioanniy "Music is a Woman" was opened in the lobby of the Profitable Building. The photographic exhibition of Dimitar Kazandjiev "Hands" was also part of the accompanying program of the festival. The photographs in it capture the hand movements of famous instrumentalists who participated in editions of "March Music Days". The two exhibitions will remain in the lobby of the Theatre Hall until March 30th.
